5 for Good: Nonprofit rowing center teaches sport, life lessons
Fall River, Mass. – Teenagers from the greater Fall River area are learning the sport of rowing for free thanks to the Watuppa Rowing Center on South Watuppa Pond.
Breana Frias, 14, said there’s a lot that she loves about being part of the Watuppa program, including learning to work as part of a team.
“I’ve played soccer, which you’re on the team, but it’s mainly you trying to get a goal, you’re trying to get recognized,” Frias said. “Here, if you mess up, everyone messes up. If you are going fast, everyone’s going to go fast. We’re basically one mind.”
