AMR Hartford: Dangerous CT heat, crowds intensify safety warnings for nation’s 250th anniversary
The safety measures for the July 4 holiday weekend remain the same as always, but risks are intensified this year by the brutal heatwave and larger than usual crowds expected at events for the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Kate Citta, operations manager for the Hartford division of American Medical Response, or AMR, said they’ll have extra personnel on duty to serve the public this weekend.
The forecast for extreme heat means the Middlesex County America 250 Parade, which was to take place on Independence Day, July 4, 2026, has been postponed until Labor Day. Middletown Mayor Gene Nocera said, “We have postponed the parade due to the extreme heat. The health and safety of the community is our number one priority. I am looking forward to September when we will gather for the parade to honor America’s historic 250th anniversary. I wish [all] a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.”
