AMR Springfield: AMR graduates celebrate completion of ‘Earn While You Learn’ EMT program
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – American Medical Response of Springfield brought together friends, family, and local officials Monday to congratulate this years ‘Earn While You Learn’ graduates and welcome them into the next chapter of their careers.
First launched in 2019, AMR’s 12-week ‘Earn While You Learn’ program is designed to make an easier transition for those wanting to become emergency medical technicians.
Participants gain hands on experience as employees, while also working to complete AMR’s EMT basic certification course. “I think the advantage to having ‘Earn While You Learn’ is that we’re not only inviting community members to come in and become EMTs…but we’re giving them a distinct advantage because we’re paying for the program,” said AMR’s EMS program director Emily Chandler. “So something that might be out of reach for somebody who’s always wanted to go into healthcare is now within their grasp to become an EMT.”
