BankFive: Don’t fall for a romance scam this Valentine’s Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Many people look for love online, but it’s important to remember that putting yourself out there can make you more vulnerable to romance scams.
Criminals often use fake online profiles to connect with people who are looking for a partner, build trust, and then ask for money, promising a long-lasting relationship.
Scott Correia, a regional manager for BankFive, says he has seen people shell out tens of thousands of dollars to scammers.
