EdVestors: Mattahunt Elementary celebrates ‘School on the Move’ win
BOSTON — Mattahunt Elementary School in Mattapan has been awarded the 19th annual “School on the Move” prize, celebrating its remarkable transformation from one of the lowest-performing schools in the state to a thriving educational institution.
“The winner of the 19th annual ‘School on the Move’ prize for 2024 is Mattahunt Elementary School!” EyeOpener anchor Antoinette Antonio announced, prompting roaring cheers, joyful tears and hugs from the crowd.
“The Mattahunt story is a journey. Nine years ago, the Mattahunt was down and out. We were one of the lowest-performing schools in the state, but, you know, that was a setback, but a setback is just a setup for a comeback,” said Principal Walter Henderson.
