In-Home Care Provider Nizhoni Looking to Scale ‘Distinct’ Behavioral Health Model

Most home health companies build their operations by taking care of older adults with chronic medical conditions or those who have recently returned home from the hospital.
But one Massachusetts-based provider with its sights set on nationwide growth is taking a very different route.
Launched in 2004, Sommerville, Massachusetts-based Nizhoni Health almost exclusively serves complex behavioral health patients with multiple health needs, providing services that include skilled nursing, home health aides and therapy. While a typical home health patient might be a 70-year-old homebound individual with congestive heart failure, Nizhoni’s go-to patients are often younger, mobile adults suffering from schizophrenia and other acute mental illnesses.
