Innocence Project OK: Governor Stitt signs bill into law, making changes to protect Oklahoma defendants

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — A bill that lawmakers say strengthens constitutional protections and enhances fairness in criminal trials has been signed into law.

On Wednesday, Gov. Kevin Stitt signed House Bill 3742 into law, implementing the prevention of wrongful convictions in Oklahoma.

Rep. Erick Harris (R) and Sen. Julie Daniels (R) sponsored the bill that will make revisions to Oklahoma’s Criminal Discovery Code in order to clarify disclosure requirements and timelines for case resolutions.
