Libertas Academy Charter: Springfield seniors celebrate college plans at Libertas Academy
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Libertas Academy Charter School in Springfield recently honored nearly 50 seniors at it’s Senior Signing Day event, where students formally declared their higher education plans.
The celebration aimed to provide academic college declarations with the same recognition typically given to athletes.
The special event gave the Class of 2026 an opportunity similar to what is usually given to athletes, celebrating their future educational paths. This milestone represents the culmination of seven years of work for these students, encompassing both middle and high school efforts.
Many of the participating seniors are also first-generation college students.
Families, friends, school staff and local officials attended the event in the gymnasium, welcomed by cheerleaders and a performance by the school’s drumline.
