Carolyn Fletcher of Wallingford never lets her son get in a car if one of his recently licensed friends is behind the wheel. But 16-year-old Jerrell was a sweet talker, she said, who convinced her to loosen the reins for that one night. Jerrell then died from a traumatic brain injury he got in a car accident. One unexpected solace in her profound grief, Fletcher said, was choosing to donate her son’s organs, ultimately saving the life of an 11-year-old boy and several others nationwide.
