New England Donor Services: Hamden mom celebrates second chance at life after getting kidney donation
HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — For five years, Lena Sorensen waited; she waited for a second chance, wondering if she’d live long enough to watch her children grow up.
“The will to live was because of them. Like, I had to be here,” Sorensen said.
Kidney failure had taken over her life. Dialysis became her routine. Complications led to open-heart surgery, and still, no kidney transplant.
