New England Donor Services: Kidney recipient White celebrates sixth Mother’s Day with ‘miracle daughter’

NORTH PROVIDENCE – North Providence resident Alison White told The Breeze last week that she was excited to celebrate her sixth Mother’s Day with her miracle daughter Matilda, or Tilly, whom she described as a “trooper” who cares about others, and is smart, creative, and funny.

“She says the funniest things and just mispronounces words, like chimkin and fwench fwies, but we don’t fix it and hope they’ll stick forever,” White said. “She’s the best thing that could have ever happened to both of us.”

Tilly was born on March 24, 2020, which was when the COVID-19 lockdown started, and not very long after White was advised to not have children after enduring a grueling kidney transplant in 2018 to combat end-stage renal disease.
