New England Donor Services: “Second chance at life”: Norwalk event highlights impact of organ donation
NORWALK, Conn. — Donors, recipients, and local officials gathered Friday to mark Donate Life Month with a flag-raising ceremony aimed at encouraging more residents to register as organ donors.
The event featured remarks from Mayor Barbara Smyth and representatives from New England Donor Services, including Mark Brevard, director of multicultural and community outreach, and Alexandra Glazier, president and CEO.
More than 100,000 people across the United States are waiting for a life-saving transplant, including more than 5,000 in New England and over 1,000 in Connecticut.
