New Heights Charter School of Brockton: New Heights completes fifth Dominican Republic education trip
New Heights Charter School of Brockton completed its fifth annual educational service trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, where teachers and students spent four weeks helping local children develop English language skills.
The initiative brought New Heights teachers and rising high school seniors into elementary and middle school classrooms serving underserved Dominican and Haitian-Dominican students, according to a community announcement.
Omari Walker, co-founder and executive director of New Heights, established the Puerto Plata Initiative to connect the school community with local educators and support educational opportunities for students in the province.
