(Boston) January 3, 2022 – Slowey McManus Communications (SMC) today announced it has acquired Emerging BioCommunications, a boutique strategic public relations firm specializing in life sciences companies and organizations. The founder of Emerging BioCommunications, Jeff Krasner, will join SMC as a Senior Vice President and head of SMC’s Life Sciences Communications Group.

The acquisition adds a number of early and clinical-stage life science firms to SMC’s growing roster of clients and boosts the firm’s profile in the industry as an experienced partner with a full range of branding, messaging and digital communications services.

“I’ve been collaborating with Slowey McManus for several years now and I’m delighted to join the firm full-time as we continue to build on our success representing both well-established and promising young biotech and life science companies,” said Krasner. “With unprecedented growth in life sciences the past few years, companies are searching for advisors they can trust, and which can make a difference as they try to reach key audiences. SMC offers a unique combination of expertise and personal, hands-on service for the growing life sciences sector.”

Krasner, a longtime financial journalist who covered biotechnology and health care for The Boston Globe and general business news for The Wall Street Journal for 20 years, has held in-house and consulting communication roles for biotech companies, venture capital firms and health care providers for the past 10 years.

“We are thrilled that Jeff has decided to join Slowey McManus,” said Jim McManus, co-Founder and Principal Partner. “He is the best in the business for helping publicly traded and emerging life sciences companies communicate with key audiences for corporate launches, product

introductions and major developments. His expertise in positioning and messaging, branding and visual assets creation will be a major boost for us as we expand this part of our business.”

“Slowey McManus has earned a reputation as a firm that delivers unparalleled results for our clients,” said Dominic Slowey, co-Founder and Principal Partner. “Bringing Jeff and Emerging BioCommunications into our firm will continue to propel the extraordinary growth we’ve experienced over the past several years, and will greatly expand our services in life sciences and healthcare.”

SMC represents life science and healthcare clients in New England, across the US and throughout the world. The firm also has a wide range of client experience in corporate communications, energy & environment, education, criminal justice, election integrity, public policy and nonprofit causes.
