Amie O’Hearn

Amie brings nearly two decades of public relations, content strategy and writing experience to her work at Slowey McManus. People are her wheelhouse; she loves to help them recognize their stories and to connect communities through those universal narratives. As part of the SMC team, Amie oversees several of our high-profile healthcare, energy and retail accounts.

She has worked across a variety of sectors including healthcare, insurance, energy and state government. She served as a spokeswoman for Attorney General Martha Coakley where she executed several large press announcements including the DOMA challenge and the office’s foreclosure crisis work. As the Director of Communications for the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, she oversaw high profile public relations campaigns including the Health Care Consumer Empowerment Campaign and data privacy.

Amie also served as the media lead for National Grid in Massachusetts where she primarily focused on legislative messaging, community outreach and crisis communications. Most recently, she was an Account Supervisor at Solomon McCown where she oversaw the execution of major public relations campaigns for national think tanks and non-profits.

Amie’s freelance work is diverse and has included opportunities to work as a content strategist on the Mass General Hospital website redesign and has garnered her bylines in Glide Magazine, Sound of Boston, Dig Boston and Hello Giggles.

Amie is a certified yoga teacher and holds a certificate in trauma informed teaching from Firefly International. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications studies from Suffolk University.
