UniBank: UniBank marks Polar Park branch anniversary with 10¢ gas giveaway
WORCESTER — A line of cars stretched through Kelley Square Thursday morning as UniBank marked the first anniversary of its Polar Park branch by serving up gasoline for 10 cents a gallon. Much better than a party with stuffed mushrooms and satay, right?
From 7-10 a.m., UniBank employees—including CEO Michael Welch—pumped up to 30 gallons per vehicle at the Chop Chop Convenience Gulf Station on Madison Street. The offer drew steady traffic throughout the morning, with drivers forming queues before sunrise for a chance at what would normally be a once-in-a-magazine-ad price.
The bank announced the promo earlier this week, calling it a “thank you” to the Canal District community as the Polar Park branch reaches its one-year mark. The branch, located at The Revington on Green Island Boulevard, opened in December 2024 and has become the district’s only retail bank.
